Scholarships

College can be expensive

College is an investment in your future. But let's face it. It can be an expensive one, too.

The Communication Department offers three scholarships to sophomore, junior and senior students who qualify for these awards. In addition, many of our COM students apply for and win scholarship funding from the Philly Ad Club, the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia, and other communication-related outside funders.

The AL DÍA Foundation Scholarship Fund

This scholarship has been established through the philanthropy and vision of Hernán and Elizabeth Guaracao. Mr. Guaracao is the founder, publisher and CEO of AL DÍA, a multilingual and multicultural media organization reporting on the contributions of Americans of Latino descent.

The AL DÍA Scholars fund is designed to empower LatinX voices in the media and launch students' successful careers in journalism, new media and media business management. The AL DÍA Foundation not only funds this scholarship, but will also offer students practical training opportunities such as internships, apprenticeships and fellowships to bolster their careers in the media.

This scholarship is awarded annually to a rising senior, preferably of LatinX descent or of another underrepresented community, who is performing well academically and majoring in Communication or Digital Communication and Social Media.
